Councilmember, Cecil Yates

Over the last 20 years, Cecil Yates has worked in both the Public and Private Sectors of the real estate industry and economic development. His work with all product types (Multi-family, mixed-use, office, industrial, multi-tenant retail, and restaurant) has made him an award winning businessman. He was recently named as “People & Projects to Know” in the 2017 edition of Arizona Commercial Real Estate Magazine (AZRE) and was appointed to the Arizona Department of Real Estate (ADRE) test committee as a Subject Matter Expert by the ADRE’s Commissioner, Judy Lowe.

Presently, Cecil is the Director of Property Management for Commercial Properties, Inc. (CPI), where he manages the fifth largest commercial real estate portfolio in the State of Arizona; over 11.3M square feet. He also runs the construction, development, and accounting departments. While under his management, his division of CPI was ranked #1 in 2018 by Ranking Arizona Magazine.

Cecil is also a 2nd term Councilman (Vice Mayor 2014) for the Town of Fountain Hills where he has vast experience in economic development, writing town ordinances, and working to bridge the gap of public and private sector development. He sits on the Board of Directors for the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC) and has had his real estate license in the State of Arizona since 2008.

In his previous position as Director of Commercial Property for CPLC, he was responsible for managing all of their new project developments, “concept through completion”, which involved acquisition, development, construction, and property management.
As Operations Manager for BMI, he handled the day-to-day operations of 1,000+ residential units, (property management, logistics, marketing, sales, customer service, and staffing).

During his tenure as the Chief Operations Officer for Vetrone Development in Cleveland, Ohio, his responsibilities included property management, leasing / sales, marketing, advertising, financing, staffing, and government liaison for the entire real estate portfolio, including shopping centers, single family residential & Multi-Family estates and restaurant management. His organization helped the start of “Panini’s Bar & Grill” in the Greater Cleveland area as seen on “Man vs Food”.

Cecil’s MBA in Strategic Management is from Patten University, and his Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing & Management is from the University of Cincinnati. He received his Six Sigma certification from the Management & Strategy Institute.

He has been happily married for 22 years to his wife Nancy. They have two children; Sophia Yates- 19 who attends Grand Canyon University working on her Leadership & Entrepreneurial degree, and Mason Yates- 16 a sophomore at Scottsdale Christian Academy in Phoenix.
