Commissioners are unpaid volunteers that work under a Code of Ethics that ensures the quality of the Town Government through the practice of ethical principles that govern conduct.

Overview
The Town of Fountain Hills Board of Adjustment is made up of 5 members that are appointed by the mayor, subject to council approval, for 2-year terms. At their regular meetings board members make decisions propose or take legal action with respect to zoning issues and related applicants. The board members' authority is found in State Law, Town Code and Zoning Ordinance.
To be a member of the Town of Fountain Hills Board of Adjustment, the applicant should have experience or knowledge in 1 or more of the following fields below:
- Architecture
- Civil engineering
- Communications and public relations
- Economics
- Environmental engineering
- Geography
- Geology
- Hydrology
- Land development
- Land surveying
- Land use planning
- Landscape architecture
- Law
- Past experience on a city council
- Position on HOA Board
