CPR/AED for the Community & Workplace

The purpose of this course is to train individuals to overcome any reluctance to act in emergency situation and to recognize and core for life threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies in children or adults. The classes cover adult, child and infant CPR; the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and first aid for choking. The Fountain Hills Fire Department provides the certified CPR instructors.
The American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) “CPR and AED for Community & Workplace” course provides individuals with the basic knowledge and skills necessary to perform effective basic life support in an emergency. Persons who do not work in the healthcare field but are occupationally required or just desire to have CPR knowledge and skills would attend this course. Participants may include:

• Emergency response teams in business and industry
• Adult residential care personnel
• Child care workers
• Teachers

Pet CPR & First Aid

Learn Pet CPR, Pet First Aid, basic emergency choking and more. This program is endorsed by the ASPCA. Cost includes take-home materials for your in-home pet safety and a certification.

Babysitter Safety, CPR, and First Aid

Come join the fun and learn CPR, First Aid, basic emergency choking and more. Programs will cover the immediate care given to an injured or suddenly ill children until competent emergency care is available. Cost includes take home materials for your in home safety and a certification. Be sure to bring a lunch.

Cook Around the World with Chantal

No passport required, just bring your apron! Class participants will join Chantal on a culinary journey around the world as they cook up recipes from different countries. All without having to leave Fountain Hills! These classes will feature recipes that will be easy to duplicate at home. All you need to bring to class is an apron. Each course will feature a different theme and new recipes.

Teaching Through Play: From Birth to Age 3

Is there a new baby in your family? How about a wonderful one-year-old or a terrific toddler or two-year-old? If so, come join Dr. Sally on Thursday mornings to learn "tricks of the trade" for how to maximize your time with your little one. Come away each week with new and different ways to fill your "toolbox of creativity." All parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins are encouraged to come and enjoy experiencing the latest research-based play-and-learn techniques that boost early development in all five areas: Cognitive, motor, social/emotional, language and self-esteem.

Herb Gardening

Growing herbs in the desert southwest is rewarding financially, stimulates the senses and is actually quite easy. Learn about the cool season and warm season herbs that you can grow here in the low desert for year round herbal delights. Class will include a demonstration of how to plant up a herb garden container. All recipients will receive a free packet of herb seeds to get them started on their herbal journey. Container Gardening w/ Cacti & Succulents

In the desert southwest, sculptural plants in pots are the true superstars of patios and landscapes. Join Gardening Expert Carol Stuttard as she shows us the fascinating world of container gardening with succulents and cacti. Discover how to grow these drought and heat tolerant plants using the correct watering techniques, planting mixes and clever design features for successful and stunning "hot pots". Class will also include a demonstration of how to plant up a container with succulents.

Low Desert Container Gardening

Accessorize your home and add a bit of life, as well as clean your indoor air with vibrant, fuss free houseplants. Learn the best plants to grow indoors, their light and watering needs and how and when to fertilize. Gardening educator Carol Stuttard will share top tips to keep your houseplants happy and healthy all year round and will also demonstrate how to repot, take cuttings and design creative indoor plantings.
