Let the staff at the Golf Club at Eagle Mountain and Director of Instruction, Derek Nannen, help you perfect your golf game. Clubs and practice balls are available during class time, but please bring your own clubs if you have them. Courses offered include Golf 101: Learn the Basics; Golf 202: Full Swing Mechanics; and Golf Instruction: Short Game.

Parks and Recreation is continuing our partnership with SunRidge Canyon and Jeff Newell, Director of Instruction, to provide Jr. Golf Clinics throughout the spring. Learn how to drive, pitch, and putt as well as everything you need to know about the game of golf from the pros. There is a maximum of 8 students in each 4-class session to guarantee a low student-to-teacher ratio.

Pickleball is a combination of ping-pong, tennis, and badminton. In the oddly named sport, singles or double teams hit a waffle ball over a low net with wooden or composite paddles. Parks and Recreation provides the paddles and waffle balls but players are encouraged to bring their own. Pickleball is a fun, easy sport to learn! Come join the excitement! There is drop-in play daily and schedules are posted at the Palisades Courts.

Town of Fountain Hills Community Services is offering skateboarding lessons. The Parks and Recreation Division has partnered with Kids that Rip, the reputable skateboarding school in Gilbert to provide the instruction. All lessons will be taught at Desert Vista Skate Park. Equipment needed: Skateboard, helmet, and the use of elbow and knee pads are strongly recommended. The class costs $60.

SoccerTots – Soccer skills program for kids 18 months to 7 years old. All ages and curriculums used by our Coaches are geared toward the age group of the most average child. Fun is stressed and non-competitive activities allow for kids to enjoy themselves.

Parks and Recreation is looking for a few sluggers for our adult softball leagues. Come out for fun, fitness, and good competition. Softballs and umpires are provided. Each season ends with a single elimination tournament. The teams with the best record will receive shirts and tournament champions will receive a trophy. New seasons begin every January, June, and September.
The Town of Fountain Hills has been a long-time supporter of Senior Softball in the community. Our leagues attract teams from around the Valley and are a good opportunity for exercise and fun.
Community Services hosts two tournaments each year, the Veteran’s Classic Senior Softball Invitational in November and the Great Fair Senior Softball Invitational in February. Both tournaments our held in conjunction with the Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce’s annual arts and crafts festivals that attract over 200,000 visitors to town. Each tournament attracts teams from around the State of Arizona, coming from as far as Yuma.
Tennis Pro Ron Nielson will be teaching our teen and adult classes. Ron comes to us from California where he previously was the Head Tennis Pro at two private tennis clubs. He has over 30 years of experience teaching tennis in Southern California. Ron was a former #1 ranked player in Southern California, and has worked as a tennis coach with many nationally ranked senior and junior players, including the current #1 ranked doubles team in the world, Mike & Bob Bryan. Ron is also available for private and semi-private lessons.

Quick Start is an exciting new play format for learning tennis, designed to bring kids into the game by utilizing specialized equipment, shorter court dimensions and modified scoring, all tailored to age and size.

MLB Pitch, Hit and Run and the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick competitions are one-day events that allow kids to compete against their peers in several skills competition. The events are offered for FREE and winners have the opportunity to advance to regional, sectional, and state competitions in their respective age groups.
