Rinse Smart

Restaurant owners, you are invited to participate in the Arizona Rinse Smart Program. The Town of Fountain Hills, in participation with the Chaparral Water Company and the Arizona Department of Water Resources Water Conservation Office, is offering a new water conservation device FREE of charge to participating restaurants starting in 2008.

A qualified installer from SBW Consulting, Inc. will contact you to schedule a time to come to your business to replace your existing, inefficient high-water use pre-rinse spray valve with a newer, efficient lower water use spray valve FREE of charge. The installers will start the Fountain Hills program in March and will be in the area until June.

About two-thirds of the water used by restaurants is used for dishwashing. The new spray valves use half as much water as the older ones and rinse dishes more effectively than standard spray valves because they are high-powered and rinse with a knife edge spray. The newer spray valves are rated at 1.6 gallons per minute at 60 psi pressure, so these new valves will go a long way in conserving water and help to reduce the restaurant’s water and energy bills. The new valve can save a medium-size restaurant an average of 50,000 gallons of water per year and hundreds of dollars in energy costs.
