      <description>(Fountain Hills) &#45;&amp;nbsp; If you would like serve on the Town of Fountain Hills Strategic Planning  Advisory Commission, now is your chance to be considered.&amp;nbsp; If you would like to re&#45;apply or apply, here’s what you need to know.&amp;nbsp;  

Requirements:
Any resident of Fountain Hills interested in serving on the SPAC who is a registered voter of the State of Arizona and has been a resident of the Town of Fountain Hills, Arizona for at least one year is invited to submit an application. 

Time Commitment:
The SPAC typically holds regular meetings once monthly for  1.5 hours.&amp;nbsp; Meetings are scheduled 3 months in advance.&amp;nbsp; Special sessions are held occasionally.

Timeline:
Applications will be reviewed by the Council on February 5, interviews will take place on February 10, and appointments will be made at the Council meeting on February 19, 2009. 

How to Apply:&amp;nbsp; 
Application forms are available at Town Hall during normal business hours located at 16705 E. Avenue of the Fountains, Fountain Hills, AZ 85268, 480&#45;816&#45;5100 or by clicking here.&amp;nbsp; 

The completed application packet should consist of (1) a cover letter of interest; (2) a resume; (3) completed Background and Personal Data Outline; (4) completed Supplemental Questionnaire; and (5) signed Consent to Executive Session.

Once completed, applications may be mailed to Town Hall, Attention: Shaunna Williams, at 16705 E. Avenue of the Fountains, Fountain Hills, AZ 85268.&amp;nbsp; The envelope should be labeled “Strategic Planning Advisory Commission Commissioner Application.”&amp;nbsp; In addition, applications may be hand delivered to Town Hall or emailed to Shaunna Williams at swilliams@fh.az.gov.

Applications are being accepted until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2008.&amp;nbsp;

      <description>(Fountain Hills) &#45;&amp;nbsp; If you are using Fountain Hills crosswalks, they are about to become even safer:&amp;nbsp; The first countdown pedestrian light has been installed at the intersection of El Lago and Saguaro.&amp;nbsp; Instead of seeing just “Don’t Walk” flashing, pedestrians will be alerted as to how many seconds they have left to make it safely across the intersection.&amp;nbsp; 

“Over the next ten years, we will be installing these throughout Town,” said Ken Kurth, Superintendent of Streets.&amp;nbsp; “We will be limited by our budget, but when a pedestrian light breaks, we want to replace it with the countdown option to help keep our residents safe.”

      <description>(Fountain Hills) &#45;&amp;nbsp; Fountain Hills Rural&#45;Metro Fire Department is reaching out to businesses around town in a proactive effort to prevent fires.&amp;nbsp; The department will be conducting Safety Surveys to assist businesses with becoming fire code compliant.&amp;nbsp; This involves checking for blocked exit pathways and/or other hazardous conditions and ensuring that the appropriate safety systems are in place and have been properly maintained.

 “Eighty percent of businesses do not re&#45;open after a fire,” said Fire Chief Scott LaGreca.&amp;nbsp; “Usually the damage is too significant and we want to do our part to help Fountain Hills businesses protect themselves from this type of loss.”

Strauss is a licensed psychologist located in north Scottsdale.&amp;nbsp; He states that his therapy has significantly helped people overcome anger, rage, depression, low self&#45;esteem, anxiety and more.&amp;nbsp; His PhD is from New York University.&amp;nbsp; He has been a practicing psychologist for 19 years.&amp;nbsp; He is a member of Arizona Psychological Association and Scottsdale Psychological Society.&amp;nbsp;

Paperclay Class
Students will be shown how to use, mold, and finish paper clay. Paper clay does not require set–up time and it air dries. The instructor will help students to create structures, sub&#45;structures sculptures out of paper clay. This is a new and exciting way to offer sculpting classes that do not require a kiln. This is an 8 week class.

Drawing
Anybody can learn to draw! Before you paint, you need to have a good understanding of drawing. This class includes demonstration, one&#45;on&#45;one assistance and helpful critique to get you on your way. Apply design principles to your own creative ideas. Bring only pencil and drawing paper to first class, plus paper to take notes. This is an 8&#45;week class and there is no class on Presidents&#8217; Day.

Oil Painting

A supply list will be provided upon registration.&amp;nbsp;
