Town of Fountain Hills Helps Applicants Comply with State Identification Requirements Now In Effect

The Town of Fountain Hills is working to help individuals conducting business in Town with new State of Arizona identification requirements. The Legal Arizona Worker Act’s provisions went into effect today, October 1, 2008, and affects only individuals. The act requires that before issuing a license, permit, certificate or registration to an individual for the purposes of operating a business the individual must present an acceptable form of identification documents to the Town. A copy of the identification is to be kept on file with the application or contract and License Eligibility Requirement form.
What does the public need to know?
This requirement applies to business license applications and renewals, building permit applications, any other permit application that is for the purpose of operating a business, registrations (to do business i.e., request to be placed on Town’s bidders list), contracts (including Parks & Recreation contracts for programs), certificates (of occupancy, if it is a business), and others.
What are acceptable forms of identification?
An Arizona driver license issued after 1996 or an Arizona non-operating identification license.
A driver license issued by a state that verifies lawful presence in the United States.
A birth certificate or delayed birth certificate issued in any state, territory or possession of the United States.
A United States certificate of birth abroad.
A United States passport.
A foreign passport with a United States visa.
An I-94 form with a photograph.
A United States citizenship and immigration services employment authorization document or refugee travel document.
A United States certificate of naturalization.
A United States certificate of citizenship.
A tribal certificate of Indian blood.
A tribal or bureau of Indian affairs affidavit of birth.
