Coming Soon: Green Fridays

The new year will ring in a key green initiative known as Green Fridays. Town Council voted to increase Town Hall hours for a trial period that will keep Town Hall open from 7 a.m. - 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday. These Customer Convenience Hours will provide increased access to those who work outside of the community or want to conduct business at Town Hall outside of standard business hours and help protect the environment on Fridays.

Law enforcement and the fire department will remain open on Friday, as they are imperative to public safety, as well as the Community Center and Senior Activity Center.  All other Town Hall offices will be closed on Friday to accommodate increased hours the other four days of the week.

Green Fridays will also reduce the number of cars commuting to and from Fountain Hills, which will cut down on emissions and improve air quality. In addition, the Town will see a reduction in energy bills, water usage and other necessities as key portions of the building will not be utilized one additional day a week.

Council will revisit the matter in July, 2009 to evaluate the results of the trial period. Currently, a number of municipalities around Arizona have implemented Green Fridays, including Avondale, Buckeye, Queen Creek and Yuma.

eFountain: Your Virtual Town Hall, open 24/7/365

The Town of Fountain Hills is about to make it even easier for you to contact us with your requests, questions, and concerns. Coming soon, we’ll launch eFountain, a new system that will allow you to contact us 24 hours-per-day, 7 days-per-week in whatever way is most convenient – online, on the phone, via fax, through the mail, or in person.

The Town of Fountain Hills staff is already very helpful, but eFountain makes it seem as if there’s a staff member on call around the clock to help you.

No matter which way you choose to contact us, you don’t have to know which employee or department is responsible for a specific service – the system makes sure the right person is contacted. And if you prefer to make your request or comment confidentially, you’ll always have that option too.
