Sales Tax Collections
Sales tax collections are often indicative of the state of the local economy. As is the case for most communities, Fountain Hills' sales tax collections have declined in the last year due to the recession. However, the past couple of months have been fairly encouraging, as sales tax collections seem to be returning to previous year's levels. This may indicate that the town's economy is beginning to recover. For example, restaurant sales tax collections for April and May are back up to pre-recession levels. Similarly, retail sales tax collections for March and April are back up to pre-recession levels.
