Have a business plan. The purpose of the business plan is to serve as an operating guide as you turn your idea into a viable business. For assistance with creating a business plan or for information on starting a small business, visit the Arizona Small Business Association at www.sba.gov/az/.
Organizational / Legal:
- File for a Federal Tax ID number by calling the IRS at 1-800-829-3736 for forms. Open a bank account. You may need your Federal ID number in order to open an account in your business’ name.
- Obtain a business license from the Town of Fountain Hills. To download a business license application, click here.

Apply for a sales and use tax number. Visit the Arizona Department of Revenue’s website.
