Our Town. Our Choices.
A Road Map to the Future
Welcome to the Town of Fountain Hills Citizen-Driven
Strategic Plan Web Site!
From Fountain Hills’ beginning, groups of concerned citizens
have worked together to reach consensus and understand the
common elements that reinforce our community vision. Most of the
amenities we enjoy today are the result of individuals just like
you working as a community to maintain our quality of life.
In December 2005, a Strategic Plan covering the 2006-2010
timeframe was completed. The plan also called for the
establishment of a Strategic Advisory Commission (SPAC), whose
mission is to guide the plan and engage the public in dialogue
about the Plan’s implementation.
Year 1-2 Strategic Priorities and Status:
- Annex State Trust Land: Annexation
of the State Trust Land became official on June 5, 2006
- Work More Closely with Schools:
The Town and School District staff has formed a joint
committee to increase communication and foster better
utilization of resources.
- Establish Commercial Architecture Review
Guidelines: On December 8, 2006 Town Council
approved the Commercial/Multi-family Architectural Design
Review Guidelines.
- Enforce General Plan & Zoning Ordinances:
Numerous procedural updates and
clarifications were made to ordinances relating to
enforcement of the General Plan, and the revised statutes
were accepted by Council on December 21, 2006
- Resolve Projected Revenue Shortfall:
The Informed Choices workshops started a dialogue with
citizens about the financial issue facing Fountain Hills.
Using the input from the Informed Choices workshops, Town
staff broadened the range of financial options and prepared
a series of eight in-home meetings. Town Manager Tim
Pickering presented information about
Financing the
Future to more than 150 citizens.
In January, 2007 the Fountain Hills Town
Council asked the Strategic Plan Advisory Commission (SPAC) to
continue gathering information on revenue stability options for
the Town and to make a recommendation by December, 2007. In
response, the SPAC established the
Revenue Solutions Project Team, a group of 11 volunteers
representing a cross section of the Fountain Hills community to
work on this project.
