What does the Town's P&R Commission Do?

Powers and Duties of the Parks and Recreation Commission (Section 9-2-2 of the Town Code)  reads:

The parks and recreation commission shall have the powers and duties to:

• Act in advisory capacity to the council and town manager in all matters pertaining to parks and recreation.
• Consider provisions of the annual budget for park and recreation purposes during the process of the preparation of the budget and make recommendations with respect thereto to the parks and recreation director.
• Assist in the planning of a recreational program for the citizens of the town; promote and stimulate public interest therein.
• Advise the parks and recreation director with respect to the acceptance of money, personal property or real estate donated or offered to the town for park or recreational purposes.
• Perform such other duties not inconsistent with this chapter as may be requested by the council.

When and where does the Commission meet?

Parks and Recreation Commission meetings are held on the second Monday of the month at 5:30PM at Town Hall.  Meeting dates for 2008 are:

• Monday, May 12, 2008

• Monday, September 8, 2008 (Tentative)

• Monday, October 13, 2008 (Tentative)

• Monday, November 10, 2008 (Joint P&R Commission/Town Council)
