Town of Fountain Hills Organizes Food Drive to Assist Extended Hands Food Bank

Due to an increase in demand for food items, the Extended Hands Food Bank in Fountain Hills is experiencing a severe shortage of food supplies following the end of summer. The number of individuals requiring food assistance is typically higher during the summer because children were on summer recess and didn’t receive school lunches. Traditionally, donations decline during the summer months because many Extended Hands Food Bank supporters and volunteers are seasonal residents.

In order to help build up the inventory of food supplies, the Town of Fountain Hills has organized a food drive to benefit the Extended Hands Food Bank. The food drive will take place during the month of September with collection barrels available in the lobby of Town Hall and the Fountain Hills Community Center. Extended Hands Food Bank is in need of Peanut Butter & Jelly, Mac & Cheese, Tuna Fish, and Cereal. Other non-perishable food items such as canned fruits, soups, juices, and boxed food products such as pastas would also be greatly appreciated.

The food drive will continue through Friday, September 30, 2016.
